Understanding Laser Tattoo Removal
Tattoo removal is a gradual process that uses specialised laser technology to break down tattoo pigment within the skin. As the pigment fragments become smaller, your body's natural immune system gradually removes them over time, causing the tattoo to progressively fade.
Treatment outcomes vary depending on several factors, including the tattoo's age, colours, depth of ink, skin type and the body's individual healing response. Most tattoos require a series of treatments, with complete removal not always possible. During your consultation, your clinician will assess your tattoo and discuss realistic expectations based on your individual tattoo and treatment goals.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies depending on the tattoo, ink colours, depth, age, location and your body's healing response. Most tattoos require multiple treatment sessions, and complete removal cannot always be guaranteed.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Most people describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. We use cooling methods throughout treatment to improve comfort wherever possible.
Can all tattoo colours be removed?
Some colours respond more readily than others. Black ink is generally the easiest to treat, while colours such as green, blue or yellow may require additional treatments and may not clear completely.
How long should I wait between treatments?
Treatment sessions are typically spaced several weeks apart to allow the skin to heal and give your body's immune system time to gradually remove fragmented pigment.
Can I remove part of a tattoo or prepare for a cover-up?
Yes. Laser tattoo removal can often be used to selectively fade part of a tattoo or lighten an existing tattoo before a cover-up. During your consultation, your clinician will discuss whether this approach is appropriate for your goals.
