Acne

Acne is a common inflammatory skin condition affecting the hair follicle and oil gland (pilosebaceous unit). It can present as blackheads, whiteheads, inflamed pimples, deeper cysts or nodules, and may occur on the face, chest or back. While acne is most common during adolescence, it frequently affects adults as well.

Every person's skin is different. Acne often develops due to a combination of factors including increased oil production, clogged pores, inflammation, genetics, hormones and changes within the skin microbiome. Lifestyle, certain medications and some underlying health conditions may also contribute.
